Some fine characters on vinyl I am about to enjoy
I purchased a 1952 2 record set of Charles Laughton, Cedric Hardwicke, Agnes Moorehead and Charles Boyers production of Bernard Shaws "Don Juan In Hell"
and
a production (sometime in the 50's) of Judith Anderson (Vera Allen and others) in MEDEA.
Does anyone else listen to old productions like this on vinyl? I have a few old things on tape (thanks MD) and have 6 cds of "The Big SHow" with Bankhead. A few Judy Canova shows and Phil Harris and Alice Faye shows on tape tooLove listening to these things. But for some reason I still cant listen to a book on tape/cd.

Re: Vinyl Characters
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 8:00 PMSome months back I began collecting old radio shows, mostly detective/mysteries, westerns and sci-fi, off the internet and from public library CDs. I really love the Fort Laramie shows with Raymond Burr. Wish Richard Boone had done some of the Have Gone, Will Travel radio episodes.
Yeah, the actors back then had voices of genuine character.
Right now I'm listening to Len Cariou narrate Michael Connelly's The Overlook. I love his voice, both speaking and singing. When he did his Mountain show about Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas at Washington, D.C's Ford Theatre, after the show I waited for him to come out and thank him for being a marvelous actor. He, his wife and friend weren't expecting fans. So I'm glad I was there. -

I don't have the radio shows on my iTunes right now. They take a lot of space! But they're on DVDs or MP3s CDs.
As to Fort Laramie, there's one show that is especially dear to me. As the script is just incredibly funny. For a radio western too. Want a copy of it?
